Roscrea Brooch
The Roscrea Brooch is a beautiful brooch that is one of the most notable antiquities found in Roscrea and is now housed in the National Museum.
Supposedly found when digging foundations near Ballyskenagh, the Brooch is made from silver and set with gold filigree and amber studs. The brooch dates from around 750 AD, is one of the most important personal ornaments to be found in Ireland and is regarded second only to the Tara Brooch.
